Exceptional Quality 24ct Mercury Gilded Bronze French Clock C.1830

A substantial and glorious, original antique French clock of the most stunning quality and condition. It is most exquisitely modelled in ormolu (mercury gilded in pure gold) which is in excellent clean and bright original condition. The excellent quality cast and modelling of this piece is quite exquisite, note the fine flow of folds of the dress and the lovely delicate hands of the lady.
It dates from around 1820 and has the "1609 & 77" mark on the movement backplate. It features a young lady painting a tree. The base is decorated in the classical taste with decorative frieze and volute feet.
The French movement is of good quality and is the early design with silk suspension and outside hammer stop spring. Movement is in good, clean and running condition. Condition of the case is excellent, the original gilding is beautifully clean and bright with some wear to the sides and rear of the case. The enamel dial also in excellent condition. Clock is working currently but due to age of the movement the shop doesn’t guarantee it’s function.
Complete with pendulum, bell and a key.
